Cistercian monks amid the swirl and gilt of baroque fantasy examine bound treasures at 13th-century Lilienfeld Abbey. Their library preserves 27,000 volumes, including 280 in script and 119 printed before 1501. Paintings on the vault depict the life of St. Bernard of Clairveaux, who guided the order to influence in the 1100’s.
